Founded in 1950 under the auspices of UNESCO, the International Association of Universities (IAU) is the leading global association of higher education institutions (HEIs) and organisations from around the world. IAU brings together over 650 Members from more than 120 countries. It provides a global forum for debate, cooperation and action for the worldwide higher education community by organizing global networking events, providing advisory training and capacity-building programmes, conducting research and engaging in advocacy activities. It acts as the global voice for higher education to UNESCO and other intergovernmental organisations including OECD, the World Bank, the Council of Europe and other international higher education organizations.
