About this book series
The ILO Century Project was set up in 2008 with the aim to document and understand the history of the ILO since its creation by the Treaty of Versailles in 1919, and an international network of academics from various disciplines (history, law, economy, sociology) continues to develop around the Project. This objective of this series of scholarly works is to draw attention to the historical dimension of some of today's important issues and challenges. By taking a critical look at the role of international organizations such as the ILO, the publications bring not only a historical but also a transnational perspective to the discussion and allow an in-depth understanding of the complex interaction between national and international policies.
